Change Password
Since we use End to End Encryption for all descriptive data in Svayy, the process of changing your password is a bit more complicated than in other apps you might use.
Password chaning process
Step 1
In the first step we will ask you to enter a new password. You will see the password requirements under the entry-field. If your password matches the requirements, the red text will disappear.
Step 2
We will now start migrating all your encrypted data. You can see the progress on the screen.
During the migration we get all your encrypted data from the server in batches, decrypt them with your old password on your device, to then re-encrypt them again with your new password.
Since our promise is for the Svayy server to never be able to know the contents of your descriptive data, we have to do this process on your device.
Step 3
After the migration is finished you can press the button Apply new password.
Only after you pressed this button is the new password actually used and the old password discarded.
You have to login again with your new password after this and download a new Recovery Kit for your new password. The old Recovery Kit becomes invalid.
We have added various safeguards to ensure that no data is corrupted if you terminate the app during the migration process. If possible you still should not provoke any errors by aborting the process. Kepp your phone unlocked and wait for it to finish!
